Skinny Chocolate Fruit Dip for One

If you were to show up at my house each night, you would see that this fruit dip is my go-to snack before bed.

I rarely tire of eating it.

There is just something about chocolate that ends a day perfectly.

This Skinny Chocolate Fruit Dip recipe was born when I was trying to get in shape a few years ago. My clothes were tight and I knew I was not taking care of myself. It’s embarrassing to admit when most of my friends think I am kind of a health nut.

But nobody is perfect and health journeys are never easy.

Enter: portion control. Why does it have to be so hard?!

I began to realize that I could eat all the healthy, “clean”, nutrient dense food I wanted, but if my body wasn’t burning all that fuel it would find a place to store it.

Let’s just say, my skinny jeans don’t exactly appreciate where my body chooses to store it. 😉

That is when I jumped on the Greek yogurt bandwagon. Do you remember a few years ago, when Greek yogurt was this exciting new health food? It was all the rage and I knew I wanted to try it!

I couldn’t believe how similar it was to sour cream, yet high in protein!

I started to use it as a substitute for oil in baking and subbing it for sour cream in savory dips.

Then one evening, a light bulb went off.  I wondered if I could create a sweet dip to accompany my all-time favorite snack, a crisp apple.

My original recipe used liquid stevia to sweeten, but I am partial to coconut sugar now. I will be the first to admit, this dip may not be sweet enough for your taste buds. If that is the case, increase the amount of coconut sugar in 1 tsp increments until it is the perfect dip for you.

I prefer a slightly richer-tasting dip to balance out the sweetness of my fruit.

Okay, I know you are chomping at the bit to try this incredible recipe so let’s get to it!

  1. Featuring this recipe on Allergy Free Thursdays this week, thanks for sharing it! I can’t wait to mix up a bowl when those chocolate cravings hit. Can’t wait to see what you share this week!

  2. This sounds so perfect and I love that you made the recipe for a single serving! That is one of my main problems – portion control. I haven’t made this yet, but I’m going to order coconut sugar so I can try it soon. We live in such a small town, I can’t find it anywhere. Even though I haven’t tried it yet, I’m featuring it as one of my additional features at You Link It, We Make It tomorrow! Pinning and hope to see you back at the party!

    1. I don’t think you will find a lower calorie chocolate dip that still uses whole food ingredients and no weird sugar substitute. Thanks for your kind words, Gayle! I hope you enjoy this yummy dip 🙂

  3. Ummmm, REEE-diculous. This little heap of heaven looks and sounds delectable. You cannot beat a chocolate recipe that is healthy! I also love the fact that it’s a single serving. I’d go back for seconds and thirds, and then end up just standing over the bowl with a spoon;-)

Thanks so much for sharing this awesome recipe. Will definitely be pinning! #SundayBlogHop

    1. Put the spoon down. LOL You made me laugh out loud, Katie! Gosh, I am blushing from your gushing. …And apparently, I rhyme in comments now 😉 Thank you so much for stopping by and making my day. Enjoy your “little heap of heaven” when you make it!

  4. I have always been a big fan of yogurt both for eating and as a substitute for sour cream or buttermilk in baking. Thanks for partying with us on Creative K Kids Tasty Tuesdays.

  5. This looks insanely good. I might even try putting it into Popsicle molds for healthy fudge pops. Mmmm. Thanks for sharing!!

  6. I am so glad you finally got this recipe published so the “rest of us” could enjoy your go-to-snack (I mean seriously, it’s like all you talk about!). Will definitely be trying it soon. I really enjoy how you gave step by step photos this time……
