I will admit if I have it on hand, I sometimes drizzle a little Hot Sweet Chili Sauce on top of my Skinny Egg Roll  in a Bowl because I still want a little sweet with my salty flavors.

And in my humble opinion, a teaspoon or two of that sauce doesn’t disqualify this clean egg roll in a bowl from being healthy.

  1. This is similar to a recipe I created a while back. I didn’t set out to create a recipe but use leftovers. It was so good it ended up as a go to recipe. Since this is so close to mine I would like to add that the following can be safely added true sweet chili sauce, fish sauce[very very small amount].This also is quite usable with other meats including fish seafood chicken beef. If you decide to use pork make sure its either marinated or seasoned. It has a tendency to get lost in the dish otherwise.

  2. Thanks for sharing! I tried it tonight and really enjoyed it! However, I found it to have a very salty taste. My guess is that it’s due to the soy sauce I used or I screwed something up when mixing everything. πŸ™‚ Has anyone experienced this as well? Any ideas on how to counteract it?

    Thanks!

    • Hi Kasee! Thanks for taking the time to leave your comment. πŸ™‚ I am glad you enjoyed the recipe, although you found it to be too salty. My guess is maybe you added more than 1/4 cup soy sauce, used a little less veggies than I did, or your meat was already pretty salty. Maybe the saltiness was due to one of those 3 things or I do think different soy sauces can taste “saltier” than others, or maybe that is just me. Ha! Perhaps if you make it again, you can use less soy sauce and add more if needed. Happy cooking and thanks again for stopping by! πŸ™‚

    • I always use low sodium soy sauce.

  3. Made this tonight and it was delicious!!! I eat everything, but even my husband and two year old even ate until they were full. My daughter even said “good meat!” and she is a strict veggie/ fruit fan. I had regular ginger and garlic powder which i used instead of what the recipe called for, and i added lo mein noodles to make it more “mealy”. Will definitely make this again for its ease and flavor.

    • That’s a great idea to add lo mein noodles. Thanks for the suggestion, Laura. So happy to hear of your positive recipe experiences with even a veggie/fruit fan. πŸ˜‰ Blessings to you and your family!

  4. Robyn rasmussen

I have been on a health journey to heal my body and most recently started a low histamine diet. I was SO excited to find this recipe because I was craving Chinese food and knew I couldn’t eat out. This dish was so quick and SO satisfying!!! So thankful I found it.

  5. Candy Gibbs

I totally made this and totally didn’t at the same time. I didn’t have turkey sausage but I had regular ground turkey. It was amazing. I added some extra garlic and sage and it was hit! My boys (husband and son) don’t like egg rolls but ate the heck out of this! I’ll make it again with sausage.

And you’re just cute as a button!!

    Thanks for sharing with us!!

    • Girl, you just made my day! Seriously! Thank you for leaving such a kind comment and sharing your recipe experience. It’s good to know ground turkey works well in this too! You rock! I will have to add sage next time. YUM! Blessings to you! πŸ™‚

  6. Julie Laible

Quick question about the garlic. Seems like a lot. Will it taste like a garlic dish or does the flavor blend in. I am looking forward to making this… thanks for sharing.

    • Hi Julie,

Thanks for your question. 5 cloves of garlic is what the recipe calls for, but you can always use less. πŸ™‚ The recipe makes quite a bit and I don’t think the garlic is overpowering. However, I am sure my garlic cloves are on the smaller side, rather than 5 huge cloves. Use your best judgement regarding your affection for garlic. πŸ˜‰ I hope you enjoy this yummy recipe!

  7. Jimmy Dean turkey crumbles is the protein I use. They’re precooked so efficient!

  8. What could I substitute to make this vegan? I have a friend that was put on a vegan diet and I was thinking of making this. Do you think that tofu could be used instead of the meat?

  9. Is this good reheated? Or do you eat leftovers cold?

  10. We love this recipe! We take out the ginger and add just a little bit of sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds. I can never seem to make enough to have for lunches the next day. ????
Thanks so much for a great recipe!

    • Woohoo! THANK YOU for taking the time to tell me and sharing how you made this yummy recipe your own. I love reading recipe reviews like this one.<----Insert happy dance! Blessings to you and your family, Tiffany. πŸ™‚

  11. Hello! I was wondering how many smart points each serving would be? (if its posted here I apologize for asking, but I don’t see it! thanks!)

    • Hi Mel, no worries! You didn’t miss it. I am not sure how many smart points per serving. Perhaps someone at WW could assist you as I am not familiar with calculating points. I hope you enjoy this recipe! Blessings to you on your healthy journey. πŸ™‚

    • Denise Alexander

I used Jennie O turkey sausage, which is 2 points for 2 ozs. All other ingredients are 0 points. So it depends on many servings you make it into. If you make it 4 servings, then it would 4 points per serving.

  12. do you have what the container counts would be on this for the 21 day fix?

  13. Laura Sander

I made this and I loved it! However that could be because I used spicy ground pork, which is probably not very healthy (there was a lot of grease). I can’t seem to find “spicy ground turkey sausage” in any grocery store. Would I be able to make my own? I can find plain ground turkey. What kind of spices are we talking about?

    • Hi Laura! I am so glad you loved this dish πŸ™‚ If you can find plain ground turkey sausage add crushed red pepper flakes, onion & garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper, and maybe a little cayenne pepper powder for a little more heat. I have used the plain variety and added these spices and the recipe turned out just as delicious πŸ™‚ I am just all about the easiest and healthiest route so I try to buy the “premade” spicy kind! πŸ˜‰ Blessings to you! I hope this helps.

      • I am always looking for quick recipes and this one looks awesome but i only have ground beef on hand, do you think that will change the flavor profile too much?

        • Hi Janette! Ground beef will be just fine. I would add some dried red pepper flakes/cayenne pepper/chili pepper to your beef as it browns to give it a little more flavor. If your egg roll bowl is a lacking in flavor, add in a little more garlic and onion at the end! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

  14. This was delicious! We didn’t even miss having the wrappers! Substituted ground turkey for the turkey sausage and added a few sesame seeds on top- yum! Thank you!!

    • Wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe experience, Kristin. πŸ™‚ It is good to know that ground turkey can be used as a substitution with much success. YUM! Blessings to you!
