An opportunity presented itself for my husband and me to build a home in the country, and we embraced the idea of a new beginning. The little piece of land we chose to develop wasn’t much to look at, that is if you were only to look inward at the property itself.  But when you look up, and out, the view was transformative!

Our little valley is lush and green, surrounded by tall pines and blue skies. I came to this land broken and worn, but I the rich soil and the sweeping views have inspired new growth in me.

I had never had a successful garden on any scale before we moved out to the country. I thought I didn’t have what it takes to care for plants.

But growing healthy food to sustain my family and regain my health is not just gardening. It is a mission, it is who I want to be.

Simplicity is a difficult thing to achieve in our busy world. It takes patience and persistence, and there is always sacrifice. But the benefits are life-changing.

I have learned so many rich life-lessons in my garden and discovered that tending a garden is about so much more than simply producing a harvest.  It’s about tending to my soul and becoming the kind of person that nurtures growth in every aspect of my life.

I have created a 12-day e-series compiling my best gardening tips and tricks along with the many life-lessons I’ve learned along the way.  My hope is to take you by the hand and introduce you to the life-giving art of growing your own food.

Don’t consider yourself to be a gardener yet? That’s ok!

Everyone has got to start somewhere, and I am inviting you to start here…with me.

I realize that not everyone has the ability to move to the country and grow a large garden, but most of us are capable of growing  a small container garden.  There are also many communities that offer gardening plots for a small rental fee through the summer months.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

  1. Thank you so much! This is such great information!

  2. I am so fortunate that my father-in-law is a fabulous gardener. He mentors me through the process and every year I’ve gotten better at it! (I started about 6 years ago).

This looks like a wonderful series.

Thank you so much for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).

    Wishing you a lovely day.
    xoxo
