We just love nut butter here at Grounded & Surrounded!  We don’t have any peanut allergies in our families, but have dear friends whose children are incredibly allergic.

Peanuts are not the same as tree nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc.), which grow on trees. Peanuts grow underground and are part of a different plant family, the legumes. (source)

Tree nuts are a nutrient dense food. They have a healthy fatty acid profile and are high in protein, vitamins, minerals. We just love this PDF created by the University of Michigan detailing all of the fabulous health benefits of consuming more nuts.

Many people who cannot consume peanuts can safely eat tree nuts.  Thus enters the nut butter!  Almond butter, cashew butter, pecan butter…..the possibilities are seemingly endless!

OK! Now that we have you in the mood for nut butter, it is time to introduce you to our friend, Kari Doyle. She and her husband, Sean, founded “She’s Nuts” in 2014.  Here is their story:

Family photo

My daughter was diagnosed with a peanut allergy in December, 2012.  After that, we started exploring peanut butter alternatives and didn’t really find much that we liked, so I decided to try and make my own.  Cinnamon Almond Pecan was born!  I began selling to friends, and word spread quickly.  By late fall, I had more than 75 customers!!  We decided to then take it to the next level with new flavors and start an official business!  God completely blessed us and “She’s Nuts” has really taken off!  We are currently in 12 different locations in the Black Hills area including Breadroot, Dixon Coffee Co, Main Street Market and Great Harvest Company!  Our website went live in March and has been really fun to watch grow!  We’re very excited to partner with Grounded & Surrounded and we hope you enjoy our nut butters as much as we do! ” -Kari

Kari and Sean don’t just make plane ‘ole nut butters folks!  They make flavors like Vanilla Espresso Almond Pecan, Cinnamon Cashew, and Cinnamon Almond Pecan.  We are especially excited about their brand new flavor, Chocolate Almond Pecan.

We prefer to use option #1 when consuming Kari’s nut butters…..because they are just so darn  good. We love supporting creative people who aren’t afraid to take risks and try something new.  We hope you take the time to visit their website at ShesNutsSD.com to place your order today!

  1. I like my nut butter anyway I can get it lol. I guess my favorite vehicles for nut butter consumption would be on a warm toasted english muffin (I love when it gets gooey and melty!) or straight from the jar with a spoon.

  2. Mostly I’ve been making no-bake energy bars or homemade ice cream – this would be perfect for that. This is soo good it would be nice to eat as is with some homemade crackers!

  3. I like mine on crackers or bread, but right off the spoon works too.

Whenever I run across these small mom-and-pop companies I am excited to try them out. It is such a big risk to try and enter the marketplace with a new product, and I wish them the best. I am just south of them in Nebraska, so before long hopefully they can hit the shelves here.

    1. David, I couldn’t agree with you more. Kari is doing all she can to grow the company, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you see it at a store near you soon 😉 I also love that it is now available to order online…YUM delivered!

  4. I love homemade granola or overnight oat….never thought about nutbutter frosting!!!!so cool Stopping by from #FoodieFriday

  5. I love nut butters and eat them everyday at lunch. I make banana nut bread and add a smear of nut butter, sliced bananas and a heavy drizzle of honey. I highly recommend it!

  6. I love to spread nut butter on toasted organic Omega-3 bread with a drizzle of honey, sliced bananas, or a little strawberry jam. I also use it to make no-bake energy bars to fuel my runs and Crossfit workouts!

  7. We love nut butters!!! I really want to try this company. We eat it as a dip or on bread. Depends on the flavor;)

  8. I’m literally disgustingly drooling! Great ideas! and now I’m hungry 🙂
Can’t wait to see what you bring us tomorrow on the Homestead Blog Hop! Pinned!

  9. I love my nut butter in simple cookie recipes such as nutbutter, honey, and an egg for tasty cookies!

  10. I literally eat mine with a spoon out of the jar. But I love it as a dipper for slices apples and on warm toast when it oozes into the cracks of the bread 🙂
