Best Foodie Friend

We all need friends who support our food goals. A Best Foodie Friend offers accountability and encouragement; they make our life better one bite at a time. Rarely does a week pass where my BFF and I aren’t exchanging whole foods, sharing healthy recipes, or discussing our clean eating food future. http://www.groundedandsurrounded.com/bffbestfoodiefriend/

Learning how to shop for high quality food while trying to maintain a reasonable family budget can be a daunting task.  Finding time to prepare good food while juggling the other responsibilities of motherhood can be a challenging enterprise.

Plus developing a healthy relationship with the food you consume can be an emotional and tiring journey. If you desire to do one or all of these things successfully, you are going to need the support of a BFF or a Best Foodie Friend.

When you are considering who to give this very important position to, here are the essential qualities to look for:

You MUST enjoy being around this person.

You MUST have a similar “World-Food-View”.

You MUST share similar food goals.

Notice we used the word “similar”, you don’t need to find someone who is exactly like you.  Rather, you are looking for someone who is headed in the same direction as you and who is willing to share the burdens and the benefits of the journey with you.

Do not be discouraged if you have difficulty finding all these qualities in one person, you might pick up 5 or 10 BFF’s along the way who all support you in a different manner.  The important thing is that you are not journeying alone; you are sharing your experience with others and supporting each other along the way.

Sammi Sarah canningSammi is my BFF, and we absolutely  love the benefits!  Our food lives have become so intertwined that we have forgotten what it was like before we started sharing each other’s food burdens.  Rarely does a week pass where we aren’t exchanging food, sharing recipes, or discussing our food future. If you don’t already have a BFF, start looking for one.  In the meantime, you can follow our food journey at www.groundedandsurrounded.com where we are making lives better, one bite at a time.

    1. I agree with you Jen, it is far too easy to get caught in a food rut when we have young children. I know you do canning in the summer, maybe you could join Sammi and I on one of our canning days. We would love to have food be an excuse to hang out with you and your kids.

  1. Great article Sarah! And so important in this journey of life to have people to share your goals with, especially food goals:)

  2. Jen, canning would be so much fun to do together. Great idea Sarah! Brenda, you are our BFF, you set such a great example and do you remember sharing those mangoes with me last year?!?! I sure do. They were delicious in smoothies 🙂

  3. I love this post! So happy you have a partner in foodie fun, giggle. I try and mix things up regularly. But I sometimes go to the same ‘ole recipes. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop xo

    1. Thanks for stopping by Katherine! Yes, I am so thankful to have some wonderful BFFs in my life to share in the fun of healthy living! Thanks as always for hosting such a fun party 🙂

  4. Sarah, I have one of those! She brought me her latest experiment the other day, and the next day I had her over to partake of my latest. We also get together once a month to make a huge batch of stuffed cabbage rolls that we put in our freezers and try to make last until the next time.
